Shepard Park Questions or Comments
Fishing
Q: Is there a good spot to fish at Shepard Park? We are vacationing in Cocoa Beach starting May 3rd, and want to catch some big ones.
Jimmy Parker, NC
A: Oh yes, you can fish off the shoreline, from the Cocoa Beach Pier, or take a fishing charter out onto the Atlantic Ocean. The charters will help you "catch some big ones", and the captains around Cocoa really know the waters. Nighttime fishing off of the pier is really fun. The pier is just a couple of blocks up the road from the park. But, shoreline fishing is very popular as well. Please let us know how it goes.
Cocoa Beach Pier
Oh yes, the night fishing on the Cocoa Beach pier is very good. Sometimes you will see people reeling in the fish, and bang, half of the fish gets bitten off by the sharks. Sharks feed at night, and they like it around the pier. It is loads of fun. We always try to get a hotel or motel close to the pier. They usually have the best hotel discounts as well.

Surfing
Shepard Park is where we go to surf, not too many boards in the way. If you are too close to the pier, it is too busy for surfing. You can easily rent a board for the day if you want to learn, practice surfing, or just want to try. Surfing is great exercise, so even if you don't get really good, it is fun fitness at its best.
