Florida Attractions Questions or Comments
First Visit to Florida
Q: We finally are going to be able to swing a Florida summer vacation. My job, family commitments, and other reasons, have not let us make it down. We live in Tulsa, and are big Disney fans. Our kids watch the Disney Network all the time, Kyle 6 and Lulu 4. My wife loves the water and beaches. For me, I was kind of excited to hit a place like Boca Grande for the fishing, shopping, and the golf cart lifestyle. I watch a bunch of those fishing shows on TV, and it would just be too fun to do that, just once. My wife does not know I am writing you, but she would not mind. We can only fly in to one spot, and we need to keep this down to a budget Florida vacation. If you have a few thoughts, that would be great.
Thanks, Nathan Oaks (Tulsa OK)
A: Yeah, boating in Boca Grande is something special, and your wife would be happy too at Gasparilla Island Beach Park. Fishing and boating...What are you thinking!!! You have two kids have only experienced Disney on TV. This is too easy, you need to fly to Orlando and do central Florida. Everyone will be happy. Everyone will love the theme parks (Dad, Mom, and the Children), the beaches at Cocoa Beach are just an hour away, and you have the boating and fishing options at Cocoa Beach as well. It is all there for you, but it starts with Disney and International Drive. When you visit, be sure to check out Disney's Key West Resort, for your fix of a tropical oasis. Please let us know how your vacation goes.
Hollywood Studios Star Wars
Q: What is the best thing for kids to do Hollywood Studios Star Wars Weekend? We are driving over in late June and can't wait. We heard really good things about this event. Plus, we just loved all of the six Star Wars movies. It is nice that Orlando area has so many attractions and family things to do.
Thanks, Bruce Gordon (Nokomis Beach)
A: You should really try to arrive early and get your kids involved with the Jedi Training Academy. It is an interactive stage show where they ask children to come on stage and take on Darth Vader. This is one of the best children's activities at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It is big fun with a light saber!

Great Florida Water Parks
Blizzard Beach
Disney legend has it that after a freak winter storm blanketed the area with snow. Yes it snowed very heavy in Florida, and the state's first ski resort was created. After the climate returned to normal, the powdery snow turned to slippery wet slush. The ski resort's slalom courses, bobsled runs, and toboggan shoots became downhill watersides. The chair lift carried water park riders rather than skiers. The old ski jump became the tallest and fastest water slide in the world. That is the story behind Disney's Blizzard Beach!
Typhoon Lagoon
Disney legend tells the story of wild Florida Hurricane stormed across the gulf-of-mexico, sending surfboards into trees, forcing small boats through beach front real estate, and leaving a huge shrimp boat on the top of a huge mountain. For Florida Water Park enthusiasts were left with fun twisting rides, fast moving rapids, and free flowing rivers. This is how Typhoon Lagoon's Rides & Slides were born, including the world's largest wave pool!
