Boating around Clearwater Beach is fantastic. Just ask any of the local boaters, and they will tell you the same. You can take in great views trolling the Inter-coastal, jet up and down the coastline, or cruise out to sea. You can even pull right up to some great waterside bars and restaurants. It is all here, from the wave runners on up to the big yachts. If you don't have a boat, boating trips of various types are available daily at the Clearwater Beach Municipal Marina.
The main boat ramp used is located on the mainland, just north of downtown, off Alt-19, at the very western end of Seminole Street. So heading north on Alt-19, take a left on Seminole Street and it is down about 500 yards.
The waves and surf vary in direct proportion to the wind. A westerly breeze typically means smooth water due to land blockage. An easterly breeze will more likely cause choppier conditions. The Inter-coastal area provides a safe haven for beginning sailors and wind surfers.
