Pier 60 is located in the heart of Clearwater Beach, at the end of Main Beach. It's easy to spot as you drive through the round-about located in the center of town. Pier 60 is a great place to take a stroll, or fish, or people-watch. Or enjoy the beauty of the beach. Pier 60 comes alive in the evening, just before dusk. This is when the nightly sunset celebration occurs, and it is a sight to be seen. You will see many tourists with cameras in hand, watching the sunset, enjoying the end of another beautiful day. The crowd is pleasant. No one gets too rowdy here. It's a laid-back time of day. Some in the crowd are sun-drenched. Others have showered and make an event of the celebration. All have one thing in common, the experience of seeing one of the most beautiful sunsets in all the land.
Throughout the day, Pier 60 is a nice place to visit. But at night, it takes on a whole new demeanor. This is the time of day when vendors line up along the Pier walkway selling their goods. You will find sharks tooth necklaces for the men, and shell bracelets for the ladies. There are a lot of wonderful trinkets to take back home. Artisans will paint your picture, and there are plenty of unique acts for the whole family to enjoy. This carnival atmosphere is great fun, and a wonderful way to end the day. The festival begins two hours before sunset, and continues two hours after sunset, and it is free to attend. It's great entertainment, and it really is a "sunset" celebration.
