Orange County Camping

Fort Wilderness Campground is value priced camping in a Disney Park. The area is beautiful, campsites are spaced well, with water, cable, and electric hookups. Facilities, groceries, and bus service are close by. Its a great camping area and close to all of the rest of Disney.

The campsites are of decent size and surrounded by lush Florida greenery. It would be nice if the campsites were spaced out a little, but Disney makes up for it with the wonderful activities. ★★★★

Some room, but if you have a few friends meeting you with their automobiles, they will need to park in the main parking lot area. ★★★★

Once you get checked in, you can just park your car and take the water taxi and monorail system to the Disney Theme Parks. You may have some wait times for them and the bus system, but the employees do an excellent job all in all. ★★★★

Activities

The campground has dinner shows, a Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Show, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, and ferryboat rides to the theme parks. You will really love the big pools here. Other activities include: arcades, biking, wagon rides, fishing, tennis, volleyball, jogging trails, boat rentals, a petting farm, and horseback riding.

Fort Wilderness Campsite Questions and Comments

Disney Fireworks

Q: Any thoughts on where to see the firework display. We heard that it was a big highlight of a day at disney. My mom, dad, and our three kids are going to camp and make a huge outing out of fort wilderness. Very happy to be checking out disney, orlando, and florida for that matter. Then we are going over to bradenton and sarasota for a few days, and will be hitting sarasota ringling museum and st. armands circle. But our kids are already asking about the fireworks, that is their favorite thing here in dallas.

Thanks, Amy Smith - Dallas Texas

A: Wow, making the big trip from Texas, that sounds like a lot of fun. A nice family spot for watching fireworks from Fort Wilderness is right out near the beach area, the Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort, Polynesian Resort, or out on the boat. The first night, watch the fireworks from one of the resorts or the beach, and take note of the time they start. Then the next night, board the boat just prior to the start, and you will get to watch the firework display from the boat! That is the way to go.

Have a wonderful camping vacation!
