Gasparilla Island State Park

What a thing of beauty is Gasparilla Island State Park. This marvelous beach gem and nature park is a really nice place to visit and enjoy. The water and beach area at the southern tip are the focal points. This tip is located right where Charlotte Harbor connects to the Gulf of Mexico. A wide variety of boats go cruising by, adding to this unique setting. What a refreshing and pleasing day we had visiting Gasparilla Island State Park.

	Once you see the water, you will know that you have found paradise.
	It must be a complete joy to go boating around Charlotte Harbor and Boca Grande. For rentals and tours, stop by Uncle Henry's or Whidden's Marina.
	The beaches are famous for their great shelling. Also, keep your eye out and you should see dolphin swimming and jumping near the shore.
	The park has a nicely shaded area to use for a picnic outing.
	The water around Gasparilla Island rivals that of even the Florida Keys.
	That is the Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum, which is free to browse. You will learn fun facts and historic information of how all this came together.
	The park is much larger than you may think. It has two beach zones, Range Light Beach on the southern tip and Sea Grape Beach about a half mile to the north.
	After a relaxing beach day, it will be time to do some sightseeing around the cute Boca Grande downtown area.
	You are close to all of the interesting venues and dining options of Boca Grande. The food and atmosphere at the Pink Elephant was terrific.
	This grand beach is also a hot spot for fishing.

Gasparilla Inn and Cottages

Returning from our annual florida beach vacation in Boca Grande and we just had the best time ever. This year we saw some online hotel discounts and took a chance on the Gasparilla Inn and Cottages. The hotel was just fine and it worked out perfectly. It is located in a good spot, at 500 Palm Avenue, and is close to plenty of restaurants. The best thing we did was rent a boat, what a day of fun on the water.

Summer Vacations

One of the best parts about summer vacation are the long days, giving us plenty of time to enjoy all of the lee county attractions and beach parks. Now the beach picnics and BBQ can be enjoyed deep into the evening. The seasonal tourist traffic is gone and we own the islands. A great spot to enjoy and see is Cayo Costa State Park, one of the most beautiful beach parks in Lee, Charlotte, or Sarasota County.

Directions

From US 41, head South to County Road 776 down to Englewood. You will take Placida Road, County Road 775, South to the Boca Grande Causeway, past the toll bridge, and down to Fifth Street, where you turn right. Then turn left on Gilchrist Road (Gulf Blvd.), which takes you right to the Gasparilla Island State Park entrance. You have arrived at one of the best beach parks in Florida!
