This is a wonderful beach area for strolling, sunbathing, swimming and Surfing. The beach area is really just one huge playground. Kids love to play in the sand and surf. This is swimming at its best with the big waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Swim, play, and ride the waves!
We love to walk the miles of pristine beach coastline. Make your own sand castle or ride the surf on a buggy board. Walk up the beach to the Cocoa Beach Pier for a spectacular view of the coastline. After the waves, the Cocoa Beach area is packed with casual bars and hip clubs, most centered along atlantic avenue.
This is the best of Florida water fun due to the beach and the waves, which will have you coming back for more. You are very close to many beach bars, the Pier, Ron Jon Surf Shop, and dozens of local restaurants. The parking is good and the action is hot. After a day on the beach, stop in at Captain J's and enjoy excellent live music.
At Shepard Park you will want to picnic right on the beach, for beach picnicking, with great views. There no volleyball setup, but you could bring your own. You have access to about ten picnic pavilions and several covered picnic tables.
After moving here in 2015, we have been hitting all of the area beaches, attractions, parks, and most of the Cocoa Beach restaurants. I would have to rate alan shepard beach park as the best beach for family fun, Surfing, or just enjoying the water. Remember that You Can Rent Boards at Ron Jons shop.
