It is movie time, as Disney's Hollywood Studios gives you a great prospective into movie making with all the Lights, Cameras, and Action! As you stroll through recreations of Hollywood Boulevard, Streets of American, and Sunset Boulevard, jump on the Great Movie Ride, see Beauty and the Beast live on stage, and watch the Extreme Stunt Show. Disney does a wonderful job with interactive musicals, simulator rides, classic film screens, and special effects, in this larger than life playground.

It was Star Wars Weekends on our most recent trip, where the adventure park was a celebration of all six Star Wars movies. Here is the Jedi Training Academy, where kids go on stage with a light saber to test their skills against Darth Vader.

Children just love the Disney character encounters which are held throughout the park. Use the Disney Photopass feature to capture the moment.

Stars of the Saga was hosted by Jay Laga'aia, which is a Celebrity Talk Show format that features a lively audience Q & A.

It is Tigger! He looks just as good and zany in the parade as in The Tigger Movie.

Star Wars Weekend
Q: If you have children between 6 and 12, easily the most entertaining and memory making event is the Jedi Training Academy. If your child is selected, they get to go on stage and participate in a really neat Jedi training show. The kids really seemed to have a really good time up there with Darth Vader and the Academy Trainer. We just laughed so much during this event, held right next to the Star Tours ride. They have these shows throughout the day, just check the Star Wars Weekend Guide.
The Star Wars Character Encounters are a great way for your children to interact the various intergalactic characters. They bounce their way throughout the entire park. At most of the locations you can ask the Photopass photographer to take photos during your child's personal encounter.

Ratatouille Movie
Can't wait until to see Ratatouille, it looks like Pixar has another big hit. I thought it was neat how the advertising materials for Ratatouille were modified so people could say it. Yes, they very cleverly worked in its pronunciation (rat-a-TOO-ee), just about everywhere you see the title.

These disney or pixar movies just really help moms like me to get through the weekend, as our children get so entertained by the movies. Ratatouille the movie makes for a lot of excitement getting ready for it. This is nice disney news.

Don't get lost in Orlando, as it is easy to do. You can get to Disney's Hollywood Studios by taking exit number 67 of I-4, then head north on Highway 536 and follow the signs to the attraction.

Why the Name Change
Since its opening and through to the beginning of 2008, the first name for this theme park was Disney-MGM Studios. Perhaps it is due to the legal battle with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., but the name changed to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney spokes people maintained that the name Disney's Hollywood Studios is more reflective of the broader, more updated mission of the theme park. Their focus is on all sorts of entertainment, not just Disney and MGM movies. That is the story behind the name change.
Walt Disney Earnings
Wow, I saw the earnings report as this past year revenues at Parks and Resorts increased 9%, or just shy of $200 million, to $2.4 billion. That is big money, all due to increases of $135 million at domestic resorts and $60 million at international resorts. The growth of both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom Park has really worked out for the Disney Stock Holders, DIS is the stock symbol.

Playhouse Disney - Live on Tour!

Live on Tour combines musical fun with vibrant and endearing Playhouse Characters in a magical setting to create a one-of-a-kind program for children and their families to sing and dance. Featuring Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and other guest surprises. Held at the Coaster Courtyard Concert Stage, near the Aerosmith Rock N Roller Coaster attraction. ABC Super Soap Weekend
November 10-11, 2007 (8am - 9pm)
The Soap's come to Disney to party, entertain, and interact with theme park guests. Many of your favorite ABC Daytime dramas are part of day, including participation the Celebrity Motorcades, Star Conversations, and SOAPnet's "I Wanna Be A Soap Star". A great annual disney tradition continues, and is included as part of your standard ticket purchase. (more)
ESPN The Weekend
February 29 - March 02, 2008 (9am - 7pm)
The Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) and Disney team up for a gala for all sports fans! It is the sports fan fest featuring big name star athletes and ESPN celebrities, plus tons of interactive entertainment. Event included with your park admission ticket. (more)
