Boating and fishing information for Matlacha
We caught a few trout in about waist deep water near the big power lines as you head North. Another good option is casting a long any shoreline flats in both North and South Matlacha Pass. That is how you might catch a really good red fish.

Go Early of Late for Boat Trailer Parking
The island has two main boat ramps, two lanes here in Matlacha and two more lanes in Bokeelia. So that really is the only issue at the amount of parking for the boat trailer.

Watch out for the Shallow Rock Beds

Big Boats take a backseat in Lee County, here the little boats rule the road. Yes, you can buzz around and get where you need to go with light draft boats. The big boats have to live in fear and the depth finder only gives a little warning or none. We have oyster beds everywhere and the maps do not show. Stick to the channels if you have a boat over about eighteen feet.
