Understanding the Florida Keys Fishing Conditions

It really gets no better than here in the middle-upper keys, I think fishing is more fun and scenic. We like the fast access to deep water or just hit the backcountry to avoid the wind. Plan to catch plenty of fish, especially if the fishing report is good. We only go out when the reports are saying plenty of keepers are biting. Call ahead and make sure you understand the conditions (wind, tides, water temperatures) that determine if the fish will bite.

A good one to go for is the Permit
Permit is a very fun fish to target, but they spook easily. However, if you are on your game you can catch them on the flats. A very tall fish (very unique), as they are about half as high as they are long.
