Southwest Florida ranks as the best in the state, nation, and even the wide world when it comes to seashells. Yes, it is simply because of geography and that is the key element to those in Captiva and Sanibel. The islands here bend around, and become nearly perpendicular to the normal Florida Beach Coast at certain points. That is it, we here import the free shells from the Caribbean and Florida Keys via the Gulf Current and the seashells land here!

Sanibel Shelling is so Easy
Amazing giant Sanibel Shell Mounds of free shells! These huge mounds of shells are waiting for you, but you do have to walk up to the area of less people traffic. This is where the Sanibel Shelling is the very best. This is where the shells are just everywhere!

Great Sanibel Beach Shelling Video
Dang you found the mother load of sea shells by the shore. I always thought the best spots are up the coastline at Captiva, guess that was a myth.
