Preserved as part of the Pinellas County Parks, the lush Florida foliage provides a wonderful venue for walking or hiking in West Florida . The trails meander between dense forests of old-growth oaks and pines, and next to small ponds on spacious Lake Tarpon.
The trails, boardwalks, and paved system provide a myriad of route choices through John Chesnut Park. A paths alternate between woodlands and marsh and is typically alive with nature and wildlife. This trail also provides outstanding views, and be sure to checkout the scenic overlook tower, as part of the boardwalk, with spectacular views of Lake Tarpon.
Allow 1-2 hours to see most of the park, depending on your hiking desires. There is a lot more solitude toward the rear of the park.
