Ken Thompson Park

Lido Key has a unique island park, one filled with playful options that can make for a very enjoyable day. Beautiful nature and aquatic education are available at Mote Marine Aquarium and the Pelican Man's Sanctuary. Boaters use the fabulous boat ramp facilities to tour the waters around Sarasota Bayfront Park, South Lido Beach, and Siesta Key. There are waterfront beach bars, fishing spots, scenic picnic tables, and playground areas to enjoy. It is activities for all, at Ken Thompson Park.

	How beautiful is this scene? Just behind this picnic party is the skyline of downtown Sarasota.
	Mote Marine Aquarium is a fabulous educational attraction the whole family will enjoy.
	It is a beautiful day for all the girls to take a pleasant outing at this Island City Park, smiles and sunshine abound.
	There is something for everyone here, from boaters to bikers, walkers, and writers. Yes, there are plenty of trees to relax under, and write a story, do homework, or just relax after a day at the office.
	Fishing is a very popular activity, and the bait shop is located right near the park's entrance.
	This is a great family park, and the kids will love it.
	You may notice the small signs along the walkways. Each of them tells a brief story or learning lesson regarding manatees, stingrays, and other aquatic sea life.
	Oh, this is a great spot to start your biking adventures. Try the ride north up to the Longboat Key Hilton.
	What a great outdoor outing, and one of Sarasota County's best secrets.
	If you want a burger with a view, then Ken Thompson Park is your spot!

Mote Aquarium Programs

We decided to take advantage of the registration availability for summer programs at Mote Aquarium, this year it is Mote Aqua kids. Some programs fill up, so call early and check the registration situation. You can call Mote at 941-388-4441, #229 for details.

One of the key reasons we bought Longboat Key real estate was the great boating, waterfront dining, and fun parks like Ken Thompson Park. Longboat Key is a very nice place to live, and we use the boat launch facilities at Ken Thompson to get our boat to and from our waterfront home. The view of Downtown Sarasota from the park's picnic table area is just the best.
