Where to Meet Disney Characters in the Magic Kingdom
We have two young children, 4 and 5, and they are finally at a good age to take a vacation to Orlando and see all the Disney Theme Parks. I have been told that the Magic Kingdom is a good spot to get some photos of my kids with Mickey, Goofy, or any of the characters. My youngest is having a birthday party next month, and I want to make the birthday card invitations using one of the cute photos, that I hope to get. So I really want to make sure we get a nice mix of photos with Tigger, Pluto, Tweedle Dee, Buzz Lightyear, etc. Any suggestion that might help me out?
Thank you, Patty Sulley (St. Pete Beach)
A: What a great idea on the birthday invitations, I like that creative plan. I have noticed over the years that all of Disney has beefed up their character showings, experiences, and photo opportunities. You should not have a problem. They are in the resorts, on the monorail, and at all the theme parks. However, you should know a couple of things to improve things.
One, get a both a guide map and times guides, first thing when you arrive, and plan for times and locations highlighted. Two, have your camera ready at all times, as characters can come out of anywhere, at anytime. They have backdoors all over the park. Spontaneous photos can often make for the best photos. Three, read up and use the photopass photographers, which are everywhere and at the planned character experiences. Four, you can get photos real quick during the parades.
With photopass, you get a card the first time you ask for them to shoot some photos. Hand them the card every time you want them for photographs. When you get home you go to the photopass web site and just select the photos you want, and only pay for those prints. The offer prints, cd, video, and even make cards! It is easy to figure that out later. But do use photopass, it is free if you don't like the photos. Buzz us on the phone if you need to. Have a great trip and let us know how it goes.
New and Fun Things at Magic Kingdom
Q: Anything new or suggestions of some fun things to do at the Magic Kingdom?
Thanks, Joe Howard (Fort Myers Beach)
A: Oh yes, lots of fun at this theme park. Here are a few things we liked on our last trip: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, Space Mountain, and end the night with Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. The Disney Character Experiences are just great for those that cherish digital photography, and with no planning at all.
Enjoy your trip to Orlando.
What to Know
Priority Access Entrance
I believe this is unusual in that the Magic Kingdom is setting up a priority access entrance for Disney Annual Passholders for the reopening of the Haunted Mansion. You just show your pass and photo ID, and you get in, even faster than FastPass. How neat is that.

New Monsters's Inc.
We are going to hit the park this weekend. One of the new things going is the year of a million dreams. Also, Monsters's Inc. should be really neat. Everything thing disney does that is new and modern is the best. It is called Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, where Mike Wazowski hosts a zany group of pals in fun and dance.

Disney Parks and Resorts Revenues
Just read through the Disney financial's, where the revenues at Disney Parks and Resorts increased by $282 million, as compared to last year to $5 billion. This was attributed to increases of $200 million at the domestic resorts and $82 million at the international resorts. That is some big money they are making, and I believe the Magic Kingdom is the number one money making theme park in the world.

WDW Golf at Magnolia
The golf course near the magic kingdom is the Magnolia, one of the walt disney world resort golf courses. This course is top of the line. Call for a tee time. You will remember this course for the rest of your lives, a great item for your Orlando itinerary.

FastPass
Save time and improve your experience by using Disney's FastPass Service, available for use at all of the Disney's Theme Parks. This system is easy to use and will shorten your wait at the major attractions. Purchase at FastPass kiosks at selected attractions to get your specifically designated return time. You're then free to have fun in the Park and when your time comes around, you can proceed directly to the attraction's pre-show or boarding area with reduced wait times.
Complementary Transportation
With Disney you have a ride, as once inside Disney property, it is complementary transportation. And the transportation if fun too, as the Disney employees do a great job of helping you with travel tips, restaurant recommendations, and keeping you from getting lost. Do try the colorful monorail, ferryboats, and bus transportation to move around Disney.
Stroller Rentals
Strollers are available for rent on the grounds. These are available in both single-passenger and double-passenger models. Just look at the major connection points, for instance where the monorail stops and theme park entrances.
