| How about this setting! That is the Museum of Fine Arts in the bottom center of the photo. To the right is the lush Straub Park, with great views of the Vinoy Basin. |
The Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida is a prime time arts venue dedicated to sharing the excellence in art with unique collections, exhibitions, and art education for all ages. This highly respected museum shows wonderful examples of photography, paintings, glass works, decorative objects, antiques, and more. The exhibit includes collections of Far Eastern, European, Columbian, African, and American art. You can tour the period rooms with antiques and historical furnishings from past centuries. They have galleries, photography, and unique special exhibitions.
What a Location
The Museum of Fine Arts opened back in 1965; and is located on a beautiful waterfront in downtown St. Petersburg. You will notice it quickly due to its huge Mediterranean style building, surrounded by wonderfully large shade trees. The trees call out to children, as they are often used for both climbing and photography backdrops.
This Arts Center is right in the middle of all that St. Petersburg has to offer, close to all the neat restaurants, nightclubs, and shops of St. Pete. Plus after visiting the museum you can walk around and checkout the famous Pier, Straub Park, the Vinoy Basin, Demen's Landing, and Baywalk. All of which are less than a 5 minute walk away from The Museum of Fine Arts.
Educational Programs
Very popular with locals are the various educational programs provided by the Museum on a regular basis. These programs cover all bases with different activities focused on various groups, family programs, coffee talks, adult programs, and creative workshops. Yes, they let you get your feet wet with hands-on art activities, designed for both learning and pure fun.
Our Thoughts
One of Florida's top art museums, the center continues to build upon past exhibits to become even more accessible and interesting. The tours and lectures augment historical collections and helps enhance your sense of discovery and wonder.
