North Lido Beach

North Lido Beach is a gorgeous and relaxing stretch of beach oasis. The further you venture up the northern shoreline, the more secluded and unspoiled the beach area becomes.

Here you will discover a highly rated Florida beach with great white sand and clear water, with a large seemingly untouched natural beach zone. North Lido Beach is an active beach, with lots of rafts and swimmers, plus all sorts of water craft cruising on the Gulf. It is a sun worshippers dream, as when you walk to the northern end, the beach area is natural, with large sand dunes, and plenty of privacy.

The long stretch of secluded shoreline at North Lido is less crowded, and is what makes it so unique and special. This beach zone comes at a price, as there's limited parking and no lifeguards or facilities on this part of the beach. So bring a little wagon to carry your things, and the longer walk will be well worth it.

Lido Key's Southern End

South Lido Park

Only about a mile or two down Ben Franklin Drive is South Lido Beach Park, another wonderful area for a beach party or picnic outing. This is a large park that wraps around from the Gulf to Sarasota Bay offering good comfort facilities, picnic pavilions, and BBQ grills right under the tall Australian Pines. The park typically has lots of action and is used by many to host parties, plus is a hot spot for recreational boaters to pull up and relax along the shore. South Lido is a fun park and offers great views of the Downtown Sarasota skyline.

One Block East

St. Armands Circle

You will love the pleasant shopping area at St. Armands Circle, and it is easy strolling while checking out each storefront. Expect smaller crowds and easy-in easy-out access to shops and unique boutiques. The Circle is a cluster of storefronts and cafes that offer you a chance to stroll, mingle, and dine outside with the sea breeze.

Lido Key is a great area to enjoy the island lifestyle, with natural and secluded beaches so close to nice hotels, restaurants, and the upscale shopping experience of St. Armands Circle.

The beach area is wide and long, perfect for skim boarders, long walks, and to find shells. In the water, you can easily find some really nice sand dollars, so be sure to bring your mask and snorkel.

Looking to the south from North Lido, you can walk or bike down to mid-beach for concessions and the large parking area. Along Ben Franklin Drive are some beautiful hotels and condominium complexes that line the road down to South Beach Park.

Lido Beach Questions or Comments

St. Armands Shopping

Be sure to stop by and enjoy the great shopping at St. Armands Circle on your way back from the beach. Actually, you can walk between the two in less than five minutes. Also, you might find a parking spot around St. Armands, then just walk down to the beach. We loved it, and the entertainment district was one of the highlights of our Sarasota beach vacation.

Sarasota Things to Do

Here is a really neat list of Sarasota things to do. It has nice photographs, comments on each destination, and suggestions for fun. One of the best Sarasota things to do is Ken Thompson Park, at the bottom of Longboat Key. We like boating and the boat ramp there gets you out to the beaches quickly and to the boater friendly restaurants.
