Holiday Inn Sanibel Island
You get big value for your dollar, as the Holiday Inn in Sanibel Island is loaded with all sorts of water sports activities and beachside fun. The hotel's location near the center of Sanibel is perfect, and is convenient to shopping, dining, the bike path, and Captiva. The service was great, grounds perfectly groomed, and the rooms have a nice island style decor. We just loved staying at this Inn, with tons of sun-drenching play, which makes for a perfect family beach vacation.

This is the most tropically themed Holiday Inn that we have seen, perfect for a Sanibel Island beach setting.

What a beautiful place to hop on a sailboat and cruise swiftly around the island, all at the speed of the wind.

Between the rear of the pool area and the beach is a nice and shady grassy oasis. This is where kids play and parents unwind, all with a great view of the water.

The poolside bar was a great place to relax at the end of the day, and sip on a yummy frozen cocktail.

Beachside ping-pong was a huge hit with all of the children.

The hotel has a wonderful pool, which was perfect to jump in after our long afternoon walks down the beach.

The number one activity in Sanibel is enjoying the beaches. The building you may notice in the background are that of Ft. Myers Beach.

Be sure to bring your bikes, if not you can rent them, as that is by far the best way to get around Island.

If you can find someone to push you high enough, you can turn a hammock into a ride-at-the-fair!

Holiday Inn Sanibel Questions or Comments
Beaches of Sanibel Island
Q: Hi, We are so excited about our first trip down to checkout Sanibel, Captiva, and Fort Myers Beach. It seemed like the lee county beaches match up as good or better than any other location in Florida. We did a lot of homework and had it down to Sarasota, Nokomis Beach, Boca Grande area or the lee county spots. Anyway, we are going to stay at the Holiday Inn (nice photos) and were trying to figure out what are the public beaches on the island. I realize we get beach access from behind the Holiday Inn, but we want to explore around the island and add all of the beach spots to our sanibel itinerary. Do you know the big ones please? If you have time, a few of the big ones would be just fine.
Best Regards, Lucy Giles (Clearwater Beach)
A: You could not go wrong with either location for a summer beach vacation spot. I like them all. As far as your stay at the Holiday Inn Sanibel, and the public beaches, let me list them out: Gulfside City Park, Lighthouse Point Park, and the largest public beach area in Sanibel is Bowman's Beach County Park. However, the area is filled with public beach access spots, so keep an eye out when you are cruising around the bike paths and you can explore some uncharted beach spots that only the local would know about. Have a great trip, and let us know of how it goes.
