Sanibel's beaches are wonderful, and most of the hotels and resorts are beachside. Mid-island is Bowman's beach, a nice spot if you desire a more secluded and private beach area.

The area is buzzing with boating. The waterways from Fort Myers Beach, through Pine Island Sound, and up to Boca Grande, are some of the top boating spots in all of Florida.

Biking is certainly the most popular way to get around. To rent bikes try Billy's Rentals, at 1470 Periwinkle Way.

What about the Boating
Q: Heading out on Friday to visit Lee County and do a ton of boating around the area. Living in Ocala, this will be our first visit this far south with the boat, but we did stay last month at the Longboat Key Hilton Resort and got to boat around Venice, Sarasota, and Bradenton. Very impressed with the water around Sarasota County, other boaters told us it gets even better around Lee County. I saw that you have a good amount of boating information on Fun Florida Getaways, so you must be a boater. Those photos on your Boca Grande page are awesome. We are certainly going to cruise over there for some fishing. Any other spots not to miss?

A: This is easy, the boating around Pine Island is fantastic. You have Matlacha, Little Pine Island, Bokeelia in the middle and northern area, which you can explore on your way up to Boca Grande. Another special tidbit is that Boca Grande has a bunch of nice boater friendly restaurants, with top-notch seafood. On the southern half of Pine Island, some really nice water is available around Flamingo Bay, San Carlos Pass, and St. James City. You also should head over to Fort Myers Beach, again with great beach bars and boater friendly dining spots to enjoy. It is big boating fun in the waters off Pine Island. Please be sure to drop us a note and tell some good fish stories. Have a super weekend out on the water.
Cape Coral Florida
Cape Coral seems like the spot to live, boat, and party in SW Florida. The location makes it quick to jump across the Sanibel Bridge, and here we are right in the entertainment district.
