It is another great day visiting a top-10 rated beach area, Siesta Key Beach. This beach oasis creates a wonderful backdrop for beach goers, sunbathers, and shell collectors. It is a great spot to swim or raft in the gentle surf of the Gulf of Mexico. Siesta is a family beach. You will see parents reading and enjoying the shoreline nature, while the kids play in the shallow waters, the perfect setting for wading children. The beach atmosphere ranges from lively crowds with lifeguards on duty, to remote areas bordered by sand dunes.

Enjoy the Fun

There are plenty of options for fun activities, and the water sports available in Siesta Key rival the best in the world. Rent a boat to cruise the gulf, hop on a sailboat to enjoy the coastal views, or kayak in search of some bottlenose dolphin. The adventuresome can try parasailing or the whizzing waverunners. Fishing lovers can grab a pole, and head to the beach for a day of deep-sea fishing or light-tackle angling. Siesta Key is the spot to take advantage of the miles of paved hiking and biking trails winding through the island.

Just Around the Corner

South Lido Park

What a harmonious setting is South Lido Park, a blend of nature, beaches, and playgrounds, perfect for a family outing. Parts of the park are wide open beach and other areas have towering trees which grow only a few yards from the water. This is a large park that wraps around from the Gulf to Sarasota Bay offering good comfort facilities, picnic pavilions, and BBQ grills right under the tall Australian Pines.

St. Armands Circle

You will love the pleasant shopping area at St. Armands Circle, and it is easy strolling while checking out each storefront. Expect smaller crowds and easy-in easy-out access to shops and unique boutiques. The Circle is a cluster of storefronts and cafes that offer you a chance to stroll, mingle, and dine outside with the sea breeze.

Siesta Key Beach Questions or Comments

We Vote for Siesta

What a hot beach day our family had at Siesta Beach. Do share our thoughts. We have traveled around Florida and not found better beach sand. Our kids just loved playing by the shore. And thank goodness for free parking. Could you please pass that on to places like Clearwater Beach that force you to pay to park. Hurray for Siesta!

Free Parking

Hi Fun Florida...Just had to add a comment about this beach. Free parking!!! Thank goodness there is just one city left that does not nickel and dime us to death. Actually, the same thing goes for South Lido Park, North Lido Beach, Bayfront Park, Ken Thompson Park, and St. Armands Circle. What happened at Sarasota downtown area, as they now have meters. We certainly don't want that. Please county commissioners, use the hotel tax, don't tax us locals. Ok, I feel better.
