Our eyes just lit up, as we found one of the most naturally spectacular beach settings anywhere in Florida, at Smyrna Dunes Park. This Volusia County beach park is a huge hit with locals, as this one of the best area parks for fishing, surfing, and beach play. The scenic landscape and natural setting will give you a strong sense of the way beaches along the Atlantic Ocean used to look like, prior to the big boom of coastal real estate development. This park's beauty is truly something to behold!

	Here is the view as you cross over the boardwalk and begin to see the Atlantic Ocean. If you walk the perimeter of the park, expect one nice view after another.
	Because of the underwater topography, the waves are typically higher at Smyrna Dunes than any other place in Volusia County.
	With the big waves, you will see a lot of surfers on the north end of the park.
	You walk nearly a half mile from the gate house to the beach, however you can park right on the beach.
	As you walk along the beach, you get some spectacular views to the north of the city of Ponce Inlet. There is a big jetty that extends onto the water, a very active fishing favorite.
	This is the beach for biking the miles and miles of beautiful New Smyrna Beach shoreline.
	The long boardwalk is very unique to a Florida beach. Checkout the observation tower and the great views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surfers.
	Park your vehicle just inside Smyrna Dunes Park.
	We stayed at the Night Swan, an intercoastal Bed and Breakfast Inn. New Smyrna Beach is a super spot for a weekend getaway.
	The park is neatly intermixed with some great hotels and condominiums.

New Smyrna Beach

Q: We are considering taking a summer vacation in New Smyrna Beach. We have two children and were wondering if this is a nice area for school aged kids. I know that Daytona Beach and Daytona Beach Shores are big family vacation destination, with a lot of children's activities. How about New Smyrna Beach? We are going to pick out a beach hotel rental for three days, and then head over and hit Disney's Hollywood Studios and Seaworld Adventure Park. Thanks for any thoughts, if you have time.

A: You and your children would love New Smyrna Beach, as the area has tons to do for adults, children, couples, or big families There are public pools, boat rentals, golfing, arcade spots, shopping malls, fishing piers, spas, movie theaters, and all of the beach activities. This is a big kid playground, as for most kids a city by the beach is as good as it gets. However, you are already planning to hit the ultimate in children's fun at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Seaworld Adventure Park. Sounds like you are going to have a blast. Enjoy all of central Florida.
