Visitor Info...Continued

Ask for a copy of the chamber's visitor guide, which lists hotels, condominiums, and other accommodations. Also downtown, there are walk-in information centers at The Pier and Florida International Museum.

Sunken Gardens

If you like nature, be sure to check out Sunken Gardens. Known as a "living museum", it features rare and old tropical plants. You will walk down through lush gardens filled with exotic plants brought in from around the world.

The Sunken Gardens Park provides tours of the grounds, horticultural programs, and field trips. They even offer special events like weddings and corporate party rentals. For park hours, just call 727-551-3100 for current information.

Airports

The closest major airport is St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport. It is located about 10 miles north of downtown St Petersburg.

Most visitors will find better connections to Tampa International, which is about 15 miles northwest of downtown St. Petersburg, across the bay.

Both airports are conveniently located less than 30 minutes away.

St. Petersburg Questions or Comments

Progress Energy Park

How cool is a pro baseball game for five dollars, and that is what we got at one of the spring training games. Progress Energy Park is perfect for St. Petersburg. It is so close for us local residents that live in Tanglewood, Old Northeast, and Snell Isle. It is just one of the many growing attractions. Oh, be sure to checkout the Museum of Fine Arts, which is at the base of The Pier and Straub Park.
