Parking is only an issue for events, fireworks, or festivals. I have always been able to get a spot. The parking garages around Baywalk help with overflow parking. ★★★★

Downtown St. Petersburg has some great restaurants and bars, including: Haiku Sushi, Captain Al's Seafood Restaurant, Dan Marino's Town Tavern, Columbia Restaurant, and Fresco's Waterfront Bistro. ★★★★★

kid friendly

A nice, family friendly city area. Kids will love North Shore Park, Vinoy Park, and Straub Park. ★★★★★

dog friendly

Fido will love to play at the paw playground in North Shore Park. It is a great dog park, right off the waterfront. Dogs are very happy running around the North Shore Park Dog Park. ★★★★

traffic/access

Traffic getting in and out of St. Pete is not usually a problem, except when there is a special event, art festival, or parade. ★★★★

Activities

The area is a veritable sportspersons' paradise! It's ideal for boating, fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, or just sipping a cold beverage at an outdoor dining venue. Also, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays play baseball at Tropicana Field in downtown St. Petersburg.

biking

Be sure to bring bikes, it is the best way to get around St. Petersburg. Try a ride south through North Shore, Vinoy Park, and Straub Park; Cruise through the waterfront Demen's Landing Park, then over past Albert Witted Airport, and University of South Florida, St. Pete Campus; Head west around Tropicana Field, then north to Central Avenue; Take Central Avenue all the way back through downtown St. Pete, past the Vinoy Hotel and back to North Shore Park. ★★★★★

boating

A super boating spot, as you can explore up and down the Bay, Coffee Pot Bayou, and out to the Gulf. Try hanging in the boat during a Vinoy Park concert. ★★★★★

boat ramps

You have a good choice of boat ramps to launch from. Try Demen's Landing, Crisp Park, or Coffee Pot Bayou boat ramp. ★★★★★

camping

No camping here, but a fantastic camping spot is located to the south at Fort Desoto Campgrounds.

fishing

Great fishing off the shoreline, rocks, pier, and seawalls. With a boat you can really get to the fishing spots. ★★★★

hiking/walking

Great walking and hiking around the entire downtown area: Baywalk, North Shore Park, Vinoy Park, or Demen's Landing. ★★★★★

nature trails

While St. Pete does not have the typically nature trails, the best nature trail is along the Tampa Bay shoreline! Try a great walk down past Baywalk, the Vinoy Resort and over to Snell Isle.

picnicing

Great picnicking right on the waterfront at Demen's Landing, North Shore Park, and Vinoy Park. ★★★★

playgrounds

Kids can have fun on the playgrounds at North Shore Park. And it is located right next to the water, with great views of downtown and Snell Isle. ★★★★★

swimming

St. Petersburg's Bayside Beach is beautiful, but not the best swimming area. It is a perfect area for boating. However, you can swim for a small fee at the North Shore Park Pool. This huge lap pool is located right on the waterfront area, next to the beach. ★★★★

tennis

How about 4 lighted public tennis courts located right on the water! Yes, it is great tennis at North Shore Park. ★★★★★

volleyball

St. Petersburg has a great volleyball court area located right on the beach at North Shore Park. A nice place for volleyball, with a backdrop of the Tampa Bay waterfront. ★★★★

water recreation

Plenty of water play fun, between the beach, kayaking, boating, and fishing. Watercraft rentals are also available at The Pier. ★★★★★

Vinoy Park Concerts

That Vinoy Park is really a great place to visit, both during a summer concert or just any day of the week. We love to bike around the area, stop at a waterfront restaurant, and hit The Pier.

Baywalk and Muvico

It is really nice to have Baywalk so close, plus the great movies at Muvico. This weekend Muvico Movie Theatre is having disco fever, rock n' roll saturday, free swing lessons, and radio disney, all in one weekend.

Event Schedule

The event schedule is growing ever better, and the locals around the City of St. Petersburg all benefit. Now they pump out the rock, and have a retro cool day at the St. Pete Shuffle. It is a free event, Fridays from 7pm to 11pm.
