Downtown St. Petersburg
Located on the western shore of Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg was conceived and built almost a century ago primarily for tourists and wintering snowbirds. Here you'll find one of the most picturesque and pleasant downtown's of any city in Florida, with a waterfront promenade and the famous, pyramid-shaped Pier offering great views across the bay, plus quality museums, interesting shops, and fine restaurants.
Getting Around Downtown
The best way to explore St. Petersburg is with a car, bike, scooter, or even better, just walking it. Local guide and directional maps are available around the city, which outline the locations of all the various attractions. The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority provides daily bus service in town and surrounding communities. Phone 727-530-9911 for schedule and fare information.
Climate
St. Petersburg is generally warm and tropical year-round, but there is a noticeable variation between summer and winter. In the warmer months, daytime highs average in the low to mid 80s. You'll find it a little cooler along the Gulf shore, where there's a steady breeze. Winters are mild, with daytime highs usually reaching the 60s. Occasional cold snaps are possible, but the warmth usually returns quickly. No matter when you visit, be sure to use sunscreen.
Atmosphere
Day or night, the atmosphere is alive with excitement and warm hospitality. Entertainment varies from Broadway shows, taking a moonlit cruise, to dancing with a Latin beat. So whether you want to party all night long, take in the theater scene, or go for a long scenic walk, you've come to the right place.
Sightseeing
Downtown is a revitalized blend of luscious parks and impressive architecture that come together into a very pleasant city environment. The downtown waterfront, with a myriad of swaying sailboat masks and yachts, can be breath taking.

Snell Isle Real Estate
C: We are looking to buy a property on Snell Isle, which is a island community just north of downtown St. Petersburg. It is a beautiful spot, with a nice mix of waterfront homes, parks, and even has a marina for boat access. The scenic Bayview Drive is just wonderful, it has to be the best street on Snell. We are going to join the Vinoy Golf Course, which lies in the center of Snell Isle. Our real estate agent has shown us the values and they just go steadily up, as the location is the best in Tampa Bay and so close to Vinoy Park.

Vinoy Resort
One of the most popular things to see and do around the downtown entertainment district is the Vinoy Renaissance Resort. Be sure to stay at least one evening, or at a minimum swing by and checkout the neat nightclubs and dining spots. We love biking down to the hotel and having lunch, as they are open to the public. Address: 501 5th Avenue NE, St. Petersburg, Florida 33701, Phone: 727-894-1000, (more).

Gulfport Gallery Walk
Touring pinellas county last weekend, we ran across the cute little art center in Gulfport. It was the first friday evening of the month, which is when the free gallery walk is open from 6pm to 10pm. The artist display their works in the Gulfport Art Village. Add this to your St. Petersburg Itinerary, a really neat thing to see and perfect for all ages.

Jannus Landing
A super venue located downtown to enjoy is Jannus Landing, a hip bar featuring big bands. We are going to see Candlebox this weekend, a great band to see at Jannus Landing.
