Sun Dome Arena

The Sun Dome is the big one, but the Tampa campus has 200+ major buildings, including the Moffitt Cancer Center, Public Health Center, and the Student Union.

Located on the University of South Florida campus in Tampa is 10,400+ seat multi-level Sun Dome Arena. The arena is a key element for USF, by hosting the varied recreational, social, intercollegiate, and cultural interests of the campus through its recreational events. It is the center group-meeting hub for students, athletes, and staff to get together and rally in a non-academic environment.

The Dome is used as the USF Bulls sport's arena, for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, etc. In addition to sporting events, the Sun Dome Arena host's major concerts, bands, regional events, rodeos, exhibitions, corporate events, ceremonies, and more.

The Sun Dome was one of the few arenas in the United States to be created with an inflated roof. That was fixed, as a steel supported hard roof replaced the outdated air-supported roof. The arena and flooring can be re-configured in many ways to handle a bunch of different events types as needed, for example, main floor level seating for boxing matches.

USF is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award degrees at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels.

It is beautiful inside, and like the Bulls, it is Green and Gold!

If it looks a bit different than what you remember, check the roof. It was changed, as a steel supported hard roof replaced the outdated air-supported roof.

Notice the banners, yes it is Big East basketball here. The Bulls compete with all the big schools: Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, St. Johns, Villanova, and more.

There is plenty to see around this part of campus, the soccer complex, intramural area, outdoor softball fields, basketball, pools, and Red McEwen Field.

Sun Dome Questions or Comments

Seating

The best thing about going to a basketball game or a concert at USF is that there are no bad seats. What a nice venue, much improved over the original. Students, faculty, and visitors all enjoy the gym for events. It is a really good venue. Check the USF News for details.

Busch Gardens

It is a really nice area around USF, with lots to see and do. Speaking of things to do, how about both Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. Those two attractions are only a mile or so from the Sun Dome.
