While there are various restaurants in Tarpon Springs, such as Mexican or Seafood, most restaurants along Dodecanese Boulevard are Greek. Each restaurant has a unique atmosphere and flair. Hellas allows customers to sit outside in an open porch area, and watch tourists walk by. Santorini has outdoor seating along the water, as well as indoor seating, and a small bar area.
Restaurants offer traditional Greek foods at a reasonable price. This food is fresh, tasty, and very filling. The gyro is a typical Greek sandwich, made of pork, peppers, and special sauce, and rolled in a heated pita. Greek salads are spicy, but usually include a side of Greek potato salad, to counter the taste of the hot peppers. And of course, not to be forgotten, the Greek deserts are a scrumptious tasty treat to enjoy.
Plan to eat well, no matter where you dine. This food is unique. It's not your everyday cuisine. Prices are reasonable. You can expect to pay around $7 to $10 for lunch. And most restaurants include a full menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and a main course menu of traditional Greek foods. Just remember to save room for desert. It's well worth it.
