Directions to the Docks

It is a pleasant drive up US 19, turn west on Tarpon Avenue. Turn right, heading north at Alt. US 19 and then turn left when you see Dodecanese Boulevards. You are now in the sponge dock entertainment district. Be advised that you have to hunt for a free parking spot, or pay if unlucky in finding a free spot.

Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks

tarpon springs

The sponge dock area offers the chance to explore local waters, with various boat trips available throughout the day. Boats are lined up along the docks to take you out on to the local waterways for a minimum fee. Deep sea fishing exists for the more adventurous types.

About Tarpon's Docks

The docks are part of the historic Greek sponging industry. You will get to peek at some very interesting boats, which are huge and come in all kinds of shapes and colors. It is amazing to see all the various types of treasures that come from the sea. Look onto the boats closely, and you'll see many of these goodies before they are made available for sale to the public.
