Great Events in Ybor
We love attending the great events hosted at the grand stage of Ybor. Latin forefathers started the traditions, and the fun lives on. This city knows how to through a party! The Spirit of Ybor is a holiday tradition that our family does not miss. Be sure to say hi to Mama Guava at the Guavaween Family Fun Fest and Parade! Oh, and not to forget is the gala event named Fiesta Day, an annual party for all. And the people that come to Ybor events do it in style, with wild and zany costumes to shine for the specific occasion. Don't miss the big events held in Ybor!
Daytime Fun To Do
Stroll the Area
Ybor is a historical showcase of the Latin heritage of old Tampa, with all sorts of neat shops, markets, and dining spots to enjoy. You should start by visiting the Ybor City Museum, which is actually a state park! For $3 you get to learn classic tales of the early years of the area, the cigar trade, and exhibits on Vicente Martinez Ybor himself. Be sure to checkout Centro Ybor and the huge, modern entertainment and shopping zone. Centro has upscale shops that are fun to browse, movies, arcades, taverns, and more.
Columbia Restaurant
Be sure to check out this classic restaurant and its menu that is just unbelievable. Great tastes, service, and so authentic. This is a Tampa Classic and has been in Ybor since 1905! Is that something, 1905...and they still serve the same great recipes that were served to customers way back then. At least swing in and get some beans and rice, but I would say go for it and pick something special. My favorite is Paella "A la Valencia", which is the national dish of Spain. Yummy, Yummy!
Nighttime is Party Time
Nightclubs
There are two faces to the Ybor District and around 9PM or so it becomes Party Time! It is exciting and filled with energy as the dance floors fill up and the alcohol get flowing. Everyone needs to hit some clubs and get their groove on, and you don't need to be 25 to do this. While the younger crowd is a big part of the scene, you will find all ages enjoying the various types of clubs: Country Western, Hip-Hop, Rock, and Hot Dance. Nighttime at Ybor is a blast, so be ready to dance and party!

Ybor City Questions or Comments
Kids and Ybor
Q: Hi, We have two kids, a girl and a boy, eight and nice years old. We were thinking about hitting the Muvico 20 screen theater and them swing over to Centro Ybor. Coming over from Orlando, and here we go to International Drive at night with kids with no problems. However, the Tampa paper hinted about issues. Do you think yes or no, for taking our kids to Ybor City in the evening?
Thanks, Anglia Baker (Orlando Florida)
A: Hi Anglia, I respect that you care so much, and are checking ahead. Opinions may vary, but since you will be with your kids, a family evening in Ybor City should be just fine. All cities have security concerns, and downtown Tampa and Ybor City are no different. Why don't you give the Ybor Chamber a call and ask them directly. They will know the day to day issues. Please let us know how it goes. Enjoy your visit to the Ybor City area.
Ybor Real Estate
We love the area and are trying to move to Ybor City. We found a really good builder, Titan. We toured some models and they look really good. The area around south Tampa has a lot of incredible builders, and some of south Tampa's is very exclusive, and too pricey. However, prices are dropping and some new 3/2 homes, with about 1500 square feet, are priced between $245,000 and $310,000. Ybor's real estate is starting to become affordable again, yeah!

What to See
We just love Frankie's Patio, a huge casual restaurant with great selections. The Ybor City Museum is the spot to learn about the area's historic cigar industry. The Tampa Bay Brewing Company in Centro Ybor offers you and your guests a neat thing to do, tour its brewing operations with its master brewer. It is beer close up.

Heat of Summer Pub Crawl
We are going to do the Heat of Summer Pub Crawl this Saturday, which should be wild and crazy. It starts at Davis Island, with a focus on SoHo. It is a student exchange benefit and you get to enjoy booze, beer, and wine along the way. Big fun in South Tampa.

Teen Curfew
Extending the curfew for teens in the entertainment district is likely to include Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Local neighborhood activists have asked local government officials to include Wednesday in the current curfew night list.

Ybor Bars and Restaurants Recommendations
Ybor Fat Tuesday
Come on down for a frozen adult beverage, served in a Fat Tuesday Souvenir Super Jug. Print a drink coupon online. Address: 1722 East Seventh Avenue, in the heart of the Ybor City Entertainment District.
Thirsty Thursday at Empire
My girl and I love to hit Empire, our best time is on Thirsty Thursday at Empire. Throngs dance to hip-hop music, not too loud, and the atmosphere is really nice. The bouncers are nice, and the crowd is lively, but tame. This has been a big plus for us that live around the area.
